Student Scholarships
Area of Focus: Basic Education and Literacy
Macon North Rotary, in line with Rotary International’s Area of Focus: Basic Education and Literacy, has partnered with St. Peter Claver Catholic School for several years through an existing relationship of a club Rotarian, Susan Milam, our club began this scholarship fund to assist an eligible student at St. Peter Claver Catholic School with the cost of continuing their education at Mount de Sales Academy. The principal, Sister Cheryl, discussed how several families were not able to afford the gap in tuition costs from St. Peter Claver Catholic School to the tuition at Mt. De Sales Academy. Macon North Rotary wanted to make a difference and stand in the gap to assist with costs for a promising student meeting the eligibility and criteria below:
Eligibility & Criteria:
Must be a graduating 8th grade student of St Peter Claver
Positive record in academics, as well as demonstrated desire for “Service above self” through community involvement
Families must apply and be accepted to Mount de Sales Academy, including qualification for financial aid
Award may vary based upon financial aid analysis
St. Peter Claver Catholic School is in the Pleasant Hill Community and is supported by the Daughters of Charity, Friars, and Parish Church. The school’s mission is to educate the mind and open the hearts of students from diverse backgrounds so that, in the spirit of the Gospel, they are academically prepared and service oriented.
Requirements for maintaining scholarship:
MDS requires 20 hrs – an additional 10hrs for a total of 30hrs. Maintains good academic standing. Attend a rotary program and participate in one service project with the club once a year.
